How do I transition my cat to Fuzzball?Updated 2 months ago

If your cat is a confident eater, feel free to switch faster. Some cats dive straight in from day one and that's wonderful. They might finish their first bowl of Fuzzball and look up at you as if to say "where has this been all my life?".

If your cat is more cautious, there are gentle ways to encourage them:

 • Warm up the food or add a teaspoon of warm water to boost aroma

• A short play session before meals can also help spark appetite

• Try offering Fuzzball at different times of day to find when they're most hungry

• Place the bowl in a quiet, calm spot away from noise or other pets

Remember that slow curiosity is still progress, even if they only sniff for several days.

Lots of cats genuinely need the full 7–10 days to build trust. That’s perfectly fine. Some cats need even longer, and that's okay too. If your cat needs 14 days or more, you're not doing anything wrong. You're simply respecting their pace and that patience will pay off.

No two cats are the same, but below is a simple guide on how to transition to Fuzzball. Don't worry if your cat takes a little longer to adjust, this is totally normal, just go at whatever pace suits you! 😸

Days 1–2: “The Getting to Know It” Phase:

This is the "sniff and walk off" stage. Add a spoonful of Fuzzball next to their usual food. Sniffing, inspecting and leaving it is excellent progress. Your cat is simply learning the new smell and texture. Many cats start by licking a tiny bit of the broth. That’s a win.

Days 3–5: “The Building Confidence” Phase:

Mix a small amount of Fuzzball into their current food and increase the Fuzzball part by a small amount each meal. At this point, lots of cats start taking proper little bites. Remember to keep mealtimes relaxed and familiar to make the transition as comfortable as possible for your cat.

Days 6–8: “The Tipping Point” Phase:

This is where things start to shift. Your cat is nibbling more comfortably and showing real interest in their new food. Continue increasing the ratio of Fuzzball to their old food gradually. You may start to notice early changes, like a calmer tummy or slightly nicer stools.

Days 9–10: “The Full Commitment” Phase:

This is when things usually click. Move to full portions once they are eating confidently. If they seem a little unsure, you can warm the food up, this enhances the aromas and makes it more enticing for your cat. Plates start looking emptier, cats become more curious, and it all starts to make sense to them.
